2010 NEWS Midlands Schools Championships 31.5.10 - Ingon Manor GC (Warks). Congratulations to Florence King (Forest Hill) on a 3rd place finish with 79,75 and Alice Watson (Park Hill) 80,77 who finished 5th in a field of 17 all of whom had qualified through their County Schools Championships. The top five qualify for the English Schools Final at John o Gaunt GC (Beds) on 21st June. Good luck to both girls in the final. Kym Larratt, a Leicestershire Junior player as recently as 2005 and member of Kibworth GC, has qualified for the full Ladies European Tour in 2010. She finished 25th in final qualifying at La Manga, with only the top 30 from a field of 84 gaining their full European tour Card. Kym had already played in a pre-qualifying competition to reach this far. Kym recently gave a Question and Answer session with the girls county squad and we all send our congratulations and wish her luck for 2010.
Kym claimed 25th place on one-over par. She was flying high at the
halfway stage but slipped back with a third-round 78. However, she
recovered admirably in the last round with a two-under 71. She scored
73, 71 in the first two rounds. There was only one other English Amateur
who qualified in a very strong field. In Kym's last year as a junior for Leicestershire, she was playing off 4 handicap, which just shows what dedication, hard work, a desire to improve and a fighting spirit can do !
